CPR Instructors should skillfully model giving and receiving constructive feedback to foster a positive learning environment for all students.
To be effective, your feedback needs to build your students up, not tear them down. You can achieve this by providing straightforward feedback that is results focused.
- Clearly identify what isn’t working for the student and then provide possible solutions.
- Demonstrate to visually reinforce the correct techniques.
- Take time to acknowledge when students are performing well to emphasize high-quality skills.
When done properly and with care, constructive feedback fosters reflection, encourages positive change and inspires a high level of performance.
