November is National Diabetes Month, and this year we’re focusing on a serious health condition that is a precursor to Type 2 diabetes: prediabetes.
Risk factors for prediabetes include:
- Being overweight
- Being 45 years or older
- Having an immediate family member with Type 2 diabetes
- Engaging in physical activity less than three times a week
- Having a history of gestational diabetes or giving birth to a baby over nine pounds
- Having polycystic ovary syndrome
Check out the HSI Emergency Care blog for more information about risk factors and getting tested for prediabetes.
