May 20, 2021 is National STOP THE BLEED Day. As part of this one-day call to action, everyone should learn basic bleeding control techniques to help save a life during a bleeding emergency.
Three quick emergency bleeding control techniques include:
- Applying proper pressure
- Correctly packing a wound
- Placing a tourniquet
Direct pressure can be applied on the point of bleeding anywhere on the body. But in some cases, you may need to pack the wound or use a tourniquet on a limb to control the bleeding.
Check out the HSI Emergency Care blog for more information about responding to a life-threatening bleeding emergency.
