June 1-7 is National CPR and AED Awareness Week each year. This awareness campaign is dedicated to shining a spotlight on the importance of knowing how to perform CPR and use an AED.
More than 350,000 people living in the U.S. experience cardiac arrest outside of a hospital setting every year. With around 70% occurring within the home. This means you could be called upon to save the life of a spouse, child or other family member.
Anyone can learn compression-only CPR, and AEDs are designed to be easy-to-use with little to no training. We encourage you to use this week to continue to spread this important message.
Check out the HSI Emergency Care blog to learn the basics of compression-only CPR and AED use. And for some ideas of how to quickly spread awareness in your community.
