Have a Safe Halloween
We hope everyone has a safe, and most importantly, FUN Halloween! Here are a few tips to keep kids safe during the frightful night:
[dropcap]1[/dropcap]TIP: Put reflective tape on costumes and bags, and always carry a flashlight or glow stick.
Fact: More kids get hit by cars on Halloween than on any other night.
Tip: Never go to dark houses or enter the home of a stranger.
Fact: 73% of parents report that their children go trick-or-treating.
Tip: Children under 12 should trick-or-treat with an adult.
Fact: 12% of children age 5 or younger are allowed to trick-or-treat alone.
Tip: Make sure costumes fit well and do not drag on the ground. Avoid large, billowy sleeves and sharp accessories. Use face paint instead of masks when possible.
Fact: 40% of parents allow their child to wear unsafe costumes.
Tip: Always use a blunt and serrated knife when carving pumpkins.
Fact: Each October hospitals handle 4 – 5 times more hand injuries than normal.
